What is OSHA?
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Labor. OSHA’s mission is to ensure worker safety and health protection across the nation. The U.S. Congress created OSHA “to assure so far as possible every working man and woman in the nation safe and healthful working conditions and to preserve our human resources.” OSHA covers most U.S. public and private sector employees, however there are important exceptions that can vary from state to state. Utah is among the 22 states that enact their own OSHA-approved State Plan covering private and local government workplaces.
